After being engaged since October, Ye and Kim officially tied the knot today at the 16th century Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. Rick Ruben, John Legend, Tyga, Black Chyna, Big Sean and others attended the wedding, with the Italian army serving as security for it. It must be dope to have that kinda money.

Jon Connor – Best in the World (Mixtape)

Hosted by DJ Drama, Jon keeps #ConnorSeason going with another mixtape of him rapping over beats to Kanye West songs.(Like the one he did over Eminem’s or the one he did over Jay Z’s.) It’s also known as The Late Registration of a College Dropout Who Had A Dark Twisted Fantasy of 808s and Heartbreak. This is very dope, and I might review it this week. Check it out.

Top 5 Best Jay Z/Kanye West Collabs

The ‘Top 5 Best Songs’ posts I do normally don’t go in a ranking order, but this one does. Kanye and Jay Z make a great duo. Jay played a role in Kanye becoming the superstar that he is today. Their chemistry on records isn’t hard to see, as they even think of each other as brothers. ‘So Appalled’ would’ve gotten a spot on here, but that’s more of a posse cut. Without further adieu, let’s begin the list. Continue reading

Charlamagne tha God Responds to Kanye West’s Rant about Him

kanye-west-breakfast-club-main

‘Ye did another one of his rants on his Yeezus tour, during which he told Sway and Charlamagne to “Shut the fuck up”. Charlamagne responded by saying:

If Kanye wants to do radio interviews and he doesn’t want the host to talk, he might as well just do video blogs. I just want him to calm down and not get high blood pressure. And Kim, please go buy Kanye some chocolates or some flowers, some balloons for Valentines, please. He’s acting like a single bitter bitch right now. I just wanna know, where was all that when he was here on The Breakfast Club. How can y’all respect that? How did you get mad after the fact? If you felt that way, you sat here in the studio for over an hour and didn’t say none of that. But now, 3 or 4 months later you’re ranting about me again.

He’s got a point.

Kanye Interview w/ Interview Magazine

Image

Ye speaks on alot of topics in this interview. You can find it in it’s entirety here http://www.interviewmagazine.com/music/kanye-west#_, and below are some of the highlights from it:

Fatherhood: “I think I have to experience it for another few years to be able to give you an opinion. It’s all brand new, how it feels to be a father. There are some things that I understand, certain things that I don’t understand, certain things that I like to get off my chest in interviews, certain things that I want to talk about. But when we talk about love, I don’t have an answer. All I can say is that I’m happy I have it.”

His Issue with the GRAMMYs: “I’ve been nominated for Best Album maybe three times. I made Dark Fantasy and Watch the Throne less than a year apart and neither of them got nominated. “Ni**as in Paris” wasn’t nominated for Best Song either. But let’s go into the fact that I have the most Grammys of any 36-year-old or 40-year-old or whatever, and I’ve never won a Grammy outside of the Rap or R&B categories.”

Kanye West = The Greatest Live Perfomer in Hip-Hop

Image

So I went to the Yeezus concert last week with my brother. It started out with Kendrick Lamar having a dope set accompanied by a live band. He did damn near the whole GKMC tracklist. After he was done, we had to wait a long ass time for Kanye to perform. After a while, we see the mountain stage get set up, Image

the lights go off, and out comes Ye wearing that stupid mask again. Image

I ain’t in no rush to see a man’s face, but still the mask thing is weird to me. I don’t see the point. The 1st song he does is “On Sight”, and I ain’t a fan of the Yeezus album, so I sit down. Then he does “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead”, two of the very few songs that I like off that album, so it starts getting hype. Then he performs “Power” one of my favorite songs from him, but he on top of the mountain and all I can see is smoke, so I couldn’t really get into the performance. Then a different part of the stage rises up and it looks like Pride Rock from “The Lion King”. Image

and he does “Can’t Tell Me Nothin'”. I start feeling the energy again. He lays on the stage, talks about his mother, and does “Coldest Winter”, people in the audience ready to start shedding tears n shit. Very moving performance.

Then the lights go out again, and the intro to “Monster” plays. This just getting better as it goes along. One of the white girl dancers is crawling around wearing this monster outfit, but since it’s so dark in the arena, all you can see are the red eyes, which are shiny, like Jawa’s from Star Wars.

You can tell ‘Ye put ALOT of thought into these performances. Then he does “I’m in it”, and I’m debating on if I should get hype to this or not. Then the white girl dancers gather up again, and they bend together and make a throne, which Kanye sits on and continues rapping. This nigga had a throne made of white bitches dawg. Shit was legendary. After he does “Runaway”, he goes on one of those long rants he does, which was cool at first, since he was talking about staying positive and following your dreams. Then he starts talking about the whole Nike thing again, and I lose interest. Niggas in the crowd yelling “You ain’t got the answers Sway!”. The rant lasts for like 30 minutes and I’m like “Is this nigga gon start rapping eventually?”. Then he walks off stage, and I’m thinking the shows over.

If it was, I honestly would’ve been disappointed. He later goes back on stage and takes a knee. The mountain splits in half and out comes Jesus!, Well, a man playing Jesus. I thought it was kinda weird that he got a white guy to do it though. I expected him to use a black guy. Regardless, shit’s dope. He stands up and stares at Jesus, then he takes his mask off and performs, you guessed it, “Jesus Walks”. The last 30 minutes of this concert shitted on any live performance I’ve ever seen. He does all the hits, “Stronger”, “Through the Wire”, “Diamonds from Sierra Leone”, “Good Life”, “Flashing Lights”, “All of the Lights”, so on and so forth. It’s amazing really. He closes out with “Bound 2”, then the dances appear on stage and they all bow. Jesus shows up again on top of the mountain. Kanye bows, stares at Jesus, and then takes his final walk off stage. Show’s over, and it was fantastic.

I’ve seen videos of phenomenal Kanye West performances, specifically the Coachella one he did a few years ago. Seeing one live though was 10x better. I cast my vote that ‘Ye is the greatest live performer in hip-hop history.
